![]() ![]() ![]() The COFC often deny that there are other 'true' Christians outside their own religious group or fellowship. The COFC rejects 'denominationalism' and believe that they themselves are 'the one true church' and not a denomination within Christianity The COFC believe that their group has restored the New Testament church- 'the ancient order' and that all other groups are in error, lost, and apostate. If control is indeed a characteristic of cults, let's take a look at some of the HL (or Hard Line) COFC beliefs and belief systems and consider for a moment how controlling they can be: Cults are characteristically ridgid, exclusive, with a works based salvation theology, often claiming, 'We are the only one with the truth Everyone else is wrong If you leave our church your eternal salvation is in danger.' I believe the distinction between a church fellowship and a religious cult ultimately has to do with control.
